Huangshan city is a prefecture-level city centered around the Huangshan Mountains in southern Anhui province. Its urban area was originally the city of Tunxi; this now constitutes Tunxi District. It borders Chizhou to the northwest, Xuancheng to the northeast, and the provinces of Jiangxi and Zhejiang to the southwest and southeast, respectively.

Huangshan City has a subtropical monsoon climate which features distinctive four seasons, shorter spring and autumn ( about 2 months each season ), longer summer and winter ( about 4 mouths each season ). Huangshan City has enough heat and plentiful rainfall concentrated from March to July. The annual average temperature of the city is 16.4 degrees Celsius. Average is 28.1 degrees Celsius in the hottest July, 3.8 degrees Celsius in the coldest January. The record high is 41.5 degrees Celsius, the record average high is 38.9 degrees Celsius. The record low is -15.2 degrees Celsius, the record average low is -9.9 degrees Celsius. The average precipitation ranges from 1395 mm to 1702 mm, mostly in west Qimen County, northeast Yixian County, northweat Shexian County and Mt.Huangshan with a annual average of 2000 mm. More than 60 % of the annual rainfall is distributed from March to July. City Huangshan has more sunshine in summer, less in spring and autumn, least in winter. The sun shines on an average of 164 days a year.

Huangshan City is a region with a long history and splendid cultures. Shexian and Yixian Counties were established more than 2,000 years ago. In the Jin Dynasty (265-420) Huangshan City was called Xin' an Shire. Until the Song Dynasty (960-1279) when the name was changed to Huizhou, the city was famed for Hui businessmen, Hui carvings, Xin'an school of painting, Xin'an medicine, Hui architecture, Hui cuisine, and Hui opera.

Yellow Mountain (Mt. Huangshan) range covers an area of 1200 square kilometers (463 square miles) with a well developed scenic area of 154 square kilometers (60 square miles).Yellow Mountain (Mt. Huangshan) is famous for the uniquely shaped pines, the fantastic rock peaks, the sea of clouds and the hot springs .
Besides Yellow Mountain (Mt.Huangshan), Huangshan City offers many other tourist attractions: the UNESCO named and well-preserved ancient villages ( Xidi and Hongcun villages in Yixian County , the film site of the movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), archways ( in Shexian County), Taiping Lake (in Huangshan District) and Qiyun Taoist Mountain (in Xiuning County). Old houses, clan temples, ancient bridges and pagodas are abundant.

Keemun Black Tea
Keemun is a traditional famous black tea of China, produced in Qimen County of Huangshan City. It features thin twigs of sleek black color and luster, red and clear broth with a mellow and refreshing taste, and a fruity smell like that of honey or apple.

Huangshan Maofeng Green Tea
Huangshan Maofeng is a world-famous and best-quality tea, grown in the mountains over 700 meters above sea level within Mt. Huangshan Scenic Spot area which has fertile soil, cool temperatures, plenty of precipitation and a lingering fragrance of flowers. The tea has a unique quality and sends forth a lasting fragrance largely due to its growing environment, its sturdy buds and the consummate skills in picking and processing. Huangshan Maofeng strongly resembles birds¡¯ tongues in shape, with bright luster and verdant and soft yellow colors. Huangshan Maofeng, which is graded according to its quality, entered the tea market of London, Paris and Southeast Asian countries as early as 1976, becoming world famous. It was listed as a National Famous Tea at the Tea Appraisal Meeting held in Changsha in 1982.

The Four Treasures of the Study (Wen Fang Si Bao)
Four stationery items, indispensable to any Chinese scholar and calligraphy practitioner, are the brush pen, inkstick, paper and inkstone. They are main tools with which one carries out ones scholarly work, calligraphy and/or traditional Chinese painting.
